Rip Rap

Construction rip rap, also known simply as “rip rap,” is a type of rock or concrete material used in various construction projects, particularly those involving erosion control and shoreline stabilization. It consists of large, angular rocks or concrete blocks placed along the banks of rivers, streams, shorelines, or other areas prone to erosion.

The primary purpose of construction rip rap is to prevent erosion by dissipating the energy of flowing water and reducing its impact on the soil or structure behind it. Rip rap acts as a barrier, protecting the underlying soil or structures from being washed away by waves, currents, or runoff.
